Hey, im looking to get a turbo kit within the next few months. I'm wanting @ 400whp on pump gas and dont want to go rotated. Was wondering what you guys have heard about the FP Red, i know they are good for the DSM guys and they have had great times with them. But after searching on here I havent found anything on them yet.

So i was wondering what you guys think. FP Green, SZ55, APR SR55, FP Red, or GT Series. What would be the best turbo for straight line power.

all are good turbos, stay away from APS imo, they make great stuff but are way over priced. you can get a SZ55 much cheaper and get free rebuilds for life cant beat that.

From all that I've read, Deadbolt turbos are the way to go.

I dont want to have to go through the hassle of a rotated set up. I have heard good things about the FP Red just wanted to know if anyone has made any kits with those.

BTW I live in colorado and have 91 octane gas. Gotta love that....

I also am not a fan of the APS, just from what I have heard and the numbers i have seen.

I don't think you will be able to hit 400WHP on 91 octane. Your are going to have to run a mix of racing gas and pump. You can purchase the FP red turbo with an internal wastegate and get the other components needed to run it. I also know that Perrin is in the process of selling turbo kits and one of them is the FP red. I personnally am going to go with a turbo from Deadbolt. The 20G and SZ49 are both perfectly capable of 400WHP. Plus you get free rebuilds for life and these turbos are water cooled. I have also heard of some fitment issues with the FP red, but I don't know how true they are.

I want something bigger than the SZ49 and want External Gated. So has anyone had experience witht the SZ55? Also i looked on Perrin's site and saw the add about there turbo kits but nothing else. where can i look at these?

FYI, I don't care too much about the low end. and more about top end.

I'm watching this as well.

I tried organizing a thread a while back of all the possible turbo kits/replacements for our cars, but it didn't get too far at all.

I still am not sure what my options are..

*And from what I understand, as soon as you upgrade the turbo to ANYTHING bigger, you automatically need bigger injectors, bigger fuel pump, and engine management, correct?.

I have the SBRGT30-12 w/ Ecutek, perrin FMIC, greddy evo2, and supporting mods.

Mustang dyno: 334 wtq, 338 whp

Stock STI on dyno reads between 208 - 215 whp, sim. tq.
91 Octane at 22 psi tapering to 19.

This would probably read around 390 on a dynojet, but that is just speculation.

Here are some kits I have found:

You are not able to look at the Perrin kits because they have not released them. If you are going to go through the trouble of getting it externally wastegated, then you should just opt for a rotated setup anyway. A GT30R setup will easily get you the numbers you are wanting to achieve.

Yeah, i guess that a rotated set up would work best. O well it should be worth it.

That CP32 kit interested me though. Has anybody else had results with this? I saw that they got 420/420, was that to the wheels or crank?

I've had both a deadbolt 20g and a sz49. I'd recomend a 20g externally gated with a fmic and a smc meth injection kit. it would be the all around "best" setup in my opinion, instant spool with mad top end power, no boost creep, and not jeopardizing the life of the engine block and transmition. silversurfer04sti on nasioc has this combo (except internally gated) and got 410/410. it will definitely run a 11 sec pass.

i too have been looking like crazy for a good turbo setup.. ive also been thinking about getting a select few on this board to help out with the info..
as far as hitting 400whp w/ pump gas i think is possible, but that will be close to having knock problems.. i keep getting conflicting info on this.. it seems that 400whp is some kind of threshold.. that is my goal also.. 400whp on stock motor with all of the supporting mods, RELIABLEY..
the cp32 is at the crank.. there is a 20% correction on that.. ive looked into that also.. its a upgrade from the stock turbo (imo).. extreme low and mid power with it but i dont think it has a lot of top end.. thats coming from looking at pdx's dynos' on this turbo..
ive been waiting on static x's gt30&35 (r) kits for a while now.. still havent heard anything.. not sure what happend there.. now waiting on perrin's kits.. havent heard anything else there either.. i dont think you can go wrong with deadbolts turbo's or maybe fp's green.. ive been talking to slowboy a little bit to see what all they offer..
the best advise i can offer is read dyno after dyno after dyno.. make sure the numbers are either at the wheels or crank.. and if there is any correction involved (like with crawford performance's).. also ive always heard that one a stock motor you shouldnt be going over 20psi much if you want it to last.. decide what you want, low end power or high end power or a mixture etc..
