I looked at and test drove a 06 wrx that has been modified it ran like a bat out o hell and only has 14000 miles on it and the dealer is asking 22,900. When i looked under the car on the front sub-frame there was these brass spacers in between the sub-frame and the body what the heck are they for why would some one do that? Also the sub-frame on both sides looks to have aboput 6 inches cut off of it???

ALK = Anti Lift Kit. read this white paper for a better understanding. http://www.whiteline.com.au/articles/Effect of WL ALK_b.pdf
As to the sub frame being cut... Is it the thick black stock one or is it an after market thats just in a few pieces like the GT Spec sub frame replacement? If it is the stock one thats been cut and the cels means run from this car.
You might consider it if the dealer sells a warranty but if it's modded I doubt it. Did they do a compression/leak down test? When the cels are cleared the CC will work also. What specific info on the modded parts can you get from the dealer?

A compression and leak down test on the motor i have no clue if they have done that. Im going to the dealer again tommorow if i am laid off from work for the day so i can be there with the tech to go over the car. The motor runs super strong and seems to have just as much if not possibly more power than in an STI. When you say when the cels are cleared what do you mean? Im guessing computer codes? From what the dealer said on sat is that their main subie tech knows it needs to be tuned porperly to get rid iof the missfires. As far as the sub frame goes it looks like the stock one thats been cut and there is only one bolt where the spacer is just behind the front tires on either side, shouldt there be at least two bolts on either side holding it together? The mods i kow for sure it has are front mount inter cooler not sure what brand though, a full exhaust from the turbo back, hid head lights with ballasts for each, not sure if the turbo is the stocker or an sti upgrade or after market upgrade, adjustable coil overs at all four corners brand im not sure in the front its got camber and or caster plates. I believe this was or is a wrx tr. When you say run from the car if it is the stock subframe thats been cut can i replace this or get subframe connectors to make it solid?

Just after reading your only few posts. I have a couple of things to say.

1. This car sounds like trouble. I don't recommend you buy it. being fast doesnt mean its healthy.

2. You Sir, need to do some more research and some homework about these cars before you buy one. ESPECIALLY a Modded one or if you plan on modding the one you buy.

There is a lot of good information in the stickies at the top of every category. If you put some time into reading them you will not be sorry. The search feature is great for topics that you want to learn more about after seeing something mentioned that you're unsure of.

Edit. I just wanna add that, I would recommend you find a Stock WRX or STi. As they obviously have less of a chance of being abused and have a higher chance of not breaking when you decide to mod it or compete with it.

I know that it being fast doesnt mean its healthy. With only 14,300 miles on it and it being modded there is no warranty on it. Ill see what the dealer syas tommorow if i dont have to work. As far as the subframe being cut like it is i think it would be a big safety issue and that the dealer couldnt sell it with out fixing it??

I would think that the dealer couldn't sell it as is because of safety. But maybe not. It might be enough just to disclose the problem. But there is no reason to cut the sub frame. I like many others have put on a replacement to drop weight but cutting it defeats the purpose of having it at all. I would expect the dealer to have no warranty because mods will do that. But think about it. Would you spend all the money to mod a vehicle then sell it back to the dealer ( who won't pay for the mods ) at a loss. At worst you would sell it on the street to try to re coup the money in mods or take the mods off before selling it back to the dealer. Personally, I would look for another car.
